Gokul practice focuses on construction, insurance, crime, employment and contractual disputes both in the State and High Court.

Gokul has successfully represented companies and insurance companies in mediations.

Gokul is also Tito Isaac & Co’s Recruitment Partner.

Before joining practice, Gokul spent a number of years as a prosecutor with the Attorney-General’s Chambers and then became the Director of Community Relations with the Law Society of Singapore where he oversaw the administration of the Criminal Legal Aid Scheme (CLAS).

Gokul then joined the Ministry of Manpower as a prosecutor where he was later promoted to Head of Prosecution. He was later appointed as an Assistant Commissioner with MOM and presided over disputes under the Work Injury Compensation Act and adjudicated infringements under the Employment of Foreign Manpower Act.

He rendered advice to MOM on various matters, primarily on the Workplace Safety and Health and the Work Injury Compensation legislations. Gokul was part of the legal team that drafted legislation pertaining to manpower matters. He was also part of the international team that advised the Ministry on international law matters.

Gokul was Head of Training for Prosecutors in MOM and trained senior investigating officers and investigating officers.

In his legal practice, Gokul has acted for a wide range of clients and has represented individuals, companies and financial institutions in commercial, insurance and construction disputes both in the State and High Court.

Notable Cases

Successfully obtained a favourable result in respect of a claim over $55 million dollars.

Successfully acted for the Plaintiff and was awarded damages in the range of $4 million dollars.

Successfully represented a foreign entity in a commercial dispute over a sum of $1 million dollars under the auspicious of the Singapore International Arbitration Centre (SIAC). Just before the start of the arbitration proceedings, Gokul and his team of two lawyers were able to convince the opposing party to withdraw their counterclaim of over $1 millions dollars and pay his clients a fair and reasonable sum for their claim.

During his stint with MOM, Gokul represented Singapore at the UN International Labour Organisation (“ILO”) Governing Body meetings in Geneva, Switzerland and participated in discussions and negotiations between approximately 180 States, employers and workers organizations. During this period he attended a G20 meeting on behalf of Singapore.
