Shipping Law 

​Lisha is a shipping and commercial disputes lawyer with almost 8 years of experience. She regularly acts in complex, high-value disputes involving marine insurance, bills of lading, charterparties, cargo damage, crew wages and cross-border enforcement, and is deeply familiar with the wider commercial and insolvency issues which often arise in shipping disputes.

Her clients include shipowners, charterers, cargo interests, P & I Clubs and bunker suppliers. Her recent experience includes: 

• Defending a Singapore logistics company in a USD 5 million cargo damage and breach of duty claim; 
  
  

• Representing a shipowner in the enforcement of a London arbitral award in excess of USD 2 million in the Singapore Courts; 
  
  

• Representing a Vietnamese consignee in claims totalling nearly USD 900,000 for cargo contamination and damage under bills of lading; 
  
  

• Defending a Dubai company, the demise charterer of a vessel, in a claim by crew members for unpaid crew wages in excess of USD 229,000 and an application for sale pendente lite of the vessel following the arrest of the vessel in Singapore, while there w ere ongoing Court/arbitration proceedings in London and Dubai; and

• Advising shipowners on their Hull & Machinery and Protection & Indemnity Insurance coverage following the termination of charterparties and redelivery/ repossession of vessels.

She has also assisted in civil and commercial disputes, such as directors’ and shareholders’ disputes, employment disputes, contractual disputes and white-collar criminal matters. 
 
Having worked with clients from various jurisdictions, such as the United Kingdom, United States, Dubai, Japan, Mauritius and the People’s Republic of China, Lisha is adept at managing cross-border matters and navigating the cultural and time-zone sensitivities essential to delivering effective and value-added legal support.
