Kawal Pal Singh is Managing Partner at Tito Isaac & Co LLP, a role he assumed in 2024.
 

Legal Qualifications

In 2011, Kawal embarked on his legal journey in the United Kingdom, at the University of Southampton, earning his Bachelor of Laws degree with honours. After rigorous training under a distinguished Senior Counsel and passing the Singapore Bar examinations at first go, he was admitted as an Advocate & Solicitor of the Supreme Court of Singapore in 2016.

Career Progression & Leadership
​

Joining Tito Isaac & Co LLP as a Legal Associate in 2016, Kawal’s dedication, strategic & business acumen, and legal expertise propelled him through the ranks. Over the next nine years, he advanced to Senior Associate, Partner, Deputy Managing Partner, and ultimately Managing Partner. This is a testament to his leadership and the trust he earned within the firm. Before his legal practice, Kawal began his career, in international trading, managing the export of goods for brands including Sharp, Samsung, Sony & LG across Africa for a Singapore-based trading firm.

​Legal Expertise & Practice Areas

Known for his fearless approach, Kawal’s litigation practice spans civil, corporate and commercial disputes, cross-border disputes, employment disputes, litigation in acrimonious family disputes and defence representation in criminal matters. He has successfully represented clients at all levels of the Singapore Courts. Beyond litigation, he provides strategic counsel on multi-jurisdictional transactions and corporate governance, guiding multinational corporations, high-net-worth individuals, and government agencies. His clientele includes prestigious organisations, listed companies, major corporations, religious organisations, charities, non-profit organisations, NGOs, and various Singapore government bodies and agencies. 
Notable Cases

Selected matters and representative experience across litigation, arbitration, strata management, criminal defence, private client and matrimonial work.

A. Appeal Matters

  1. Acted as Lead Counsel before the Appellate Division of the High Court in a dispute concerning the interpretation of a Memorandum of Understanding, including the ascertainment of commission entitlements and the applicable quantum for services provided.

  2. Appeared before the Appellate Division of the High Court in defending an appeal concerning the termination of a Sale and Purchase Agreement and the recovery of a debt owing.
 
B. Civil & Commercial Matters
 
  1. Acted as Lead Counsel in a High Court trial arising from the sale of a business, involving allegations of fraudulent misrepresentation concerning revenue, sales, costs and banking arrangements. Successfully defended the claim and obtained judgment on the counterclaim. The matter demonstrates the importance of precise pleadings, disciplined evidence management and a commercially grounded assessment of alleged misrepresentations.

  2. Advised and acted in the High Court in defending claims in unjust enrichment and restitution for the recovery of monies allegedly received in the course of employment with the plaintiff.

  3. Advised on litigation strategy in a franchising dispute involving alleged breaches of franchise arrangements, including issues relating to non-competition and non-solicitation obligations.

  4. Acted in a range of defamation matters, with experience in both commencing and defending defamation claims in Singapore, including advising on pre-action strategy, cease-and-desist correspondence and the evidential issues required to establish publication, identification and reputational harm.

C. MCST & Building Dispute Matters
​
  1. Acted for various residential Management Corporations (MCSTs) and private residents in High Court building defects claims against developers, main contractors and subcontractors. These matters have involved defects affecting common property and residential units, including workmanship issues, water ingress, structural or design concerns and remedial obligations. Achieved favourable outcomes for private residents and MCSTs through focused case strategy, effective evidence management and negotiated resolutions where commercially sensible.

  2. Acted as lead counsel at trial and representing an MCST defending a claim by a subsidiary proprietor founded on alleged negligent misrepresentation. The MCST had withheld approvals for renovation works within a strata unit on the basis that the necessary requirements had not been satisfied, including the provision of proper documentation and requisite approvals from the relevant authorities.

  3. Defended an action by subsidiary proprietors against an MCST seeking a mandatory injunction to compel inspection of documents. The claim was successfully dismissed, with no order made against the client, who was entitled to costs.

  4. Regularly act in MCST disputes before the Strata Titles Boards, including matters concerning management corporation decisions, estate management, subsidiary proprietor disputes and the practical governance of strata developments.

D. Criminal Matters

  1. Acted as Lead Counsel in a matter involving offences under the Moneylenders Act, and made sentencing submissions which resulted in a favourable outcome for the client, including a sentence below that sought by the Prosecution.

  2. Acting in a matter involving offences of possession and consumption of controlled substances under the Misuse of Drugs Act. The matter is presently before the courts.

  3. Directly assisted a renowned Senior Counsel in the high-profile City Harvest criminal case, gaining first-hand exposure to complex trial strategy, disciplined advocacy and the conduct of high-stakes criminal proceedings.

E. Private Client, Family & Matrimonial Matters
​
  1. Regularly assist clients in estate planning and estate administration matters, including the preparation of Wills and Lasting Powers of Attorney, and applications for Grants of Probate or Letters of Administration to facilitate the orderly management and distribution of estate assets.

  2. Regularly act in contested divorce proceedings involving the division of matrimonial assets, spousal maintenance and child maintenance, with a focus on practical outcomes and the careful management of sensitive personal and financial issues.

Commitment to Community & Legal Service
​

Beyond his professional responsibilities, Kawal is deeply committed to giving back. He is an active volunteer by contributing towards charitable and meaningful social causes.

Within the legal fraternity, Kawal serves on the Law Society’s Admissions Committee and is a dedicated pro-bono advocate, providing legal consultations through the Criminal Legal Aid Scheme and assists low-income residents across Singapore. His passion for justice and service underscores his belief in using the law to create meaningful change.


Kawal also serves as a Director on the board of The Samaritans of Singapore Limited. He also sits on the Disciplinary Panel of The Singapore Swimming Club.
