Head, Knoweldge Management
Mathavan heads TIC’s Knowledge Management Department. This department aims to continuously challenge the status quo and improve the quality of work and service we bring our clients. The Knowledge Management Department has a mandate to improve efficiency by streamlining access to resources, continuously expanding our centralized knowledge repository, and fostering collaboration across the firm. Master’s In Law, Cambridge Mathavan did both his undergraduate and postgraduate degrees in the United Kingdom. He graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in Law from the University of Buckingham, and with a Master’s Degree in Law from the University of Cambridge. Mathavan also served as a Barrister-at-Law (Inner Temple) in the United Kingdom. Deputy Public Prosecutor Well versed in the ins-and-outs of the law, Mathavan practised as an Advocate & Solicitor in Singapore for three years before joining the Legal Service as a Deputy Public Prosecutor, where he served for twelve years. He then served as the Assistant Director of the Attorney-General’s Chambers Computer & Information Systems Department (CISD). Academia Mathavan taught law at Temasek Polytechnic from 2000 to 2015. He taught criminal procedure to graduate law students who were looking to be called to the Bar in Singapore and also taught Family Law, Criminal Law and Business Law to diploma level students. Volunteer Tribunal Magistrate Keen to give back to the legal fraternity and the community, Mathavan has also served as a Volunteer Tribunal Magistrate. He heard 18 Small Claims Tribunal trials in 2021. This is almost half the number of cases heard by Volunteer Tribunal Magistrates. Mathavan helped resolve disputes ranging from contracts for the sale of goods and services, to damage to property, and residential leases. Outstanding Court Volunteer Award In recognition of his contributions, Mathavan received the Outstanding Court Volunteer Award (Open Category) 2021. |
